Peaceful cabin in the woods! This rustic and spacious home has been well maintained. It was the ideal retreat for our family. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The beds were clean and comfortable. We loved the big outdoor deck and the spectacular view. Looking forward to returning!
We enjoyed our time in Estes Park
Enjoyed the stay. Would have liked to have a washer and dryer, and air-conditioning. Beautiful views, and very quiet. Enjoyed seeing the wildlife from the porch. Drive way was a challenge. Piano and Foosball table were put to good use.
Great cabin. Close to estes park and RMNP. 3 bathrooms was nice. Large kitchen and lots of counter space. Nice deck with chairs we used a lot. We ran out of garbage bags and called and they brought extras. The driveway up to cabin is a bit steep and if larger vehicle need to take a wide turn in. Beautiful views, although this is directly over the YMCA camp and we could hear them throughout the day and evening.
The view was fantastic
Very nice cabin with great views, the only unfortunate part of the dwelling is the mattresses are all either made of corncob or concrete bags
The place is worth it for the views. If you plan on spending a majority of your time out doing stuff/watching the mountain. The TV barely received service, the phone inside was always being called with scams and the bathrooms were not cleaned or supplied with soap when we arrived. The house could use some updating but the view made it worth the money.
Great, clean cabin - very close to RMNP entrance station (under 10 minutes) so it was very convenient for timed entry into the park. Two bedrooms upstairs (one is a master) and two downstairs, two baths upstairs and one downstairs. Spacious, bright and open living/dining/kitchen area upstairs. Laundry would be nice to have. Good communication. Overall, great stay, and would recommend!
The house offered plenty of space for everyone and the kitchen was supplied with everything we needed. The view from the front deck is what sold us on this property. Beds and bathrooms were adequate but nothing fancy. The location was far enough out of town to get away from the hustle of downtown Estes but close enough to enjoy all the attractions. WiFi was pretty sketchy. The price was average compared to other houses of this age and size. Ponderosa made it every easy to pick up and drop off the key. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.
This was the perfect spot for our family get together after a year of covid, we enjoyed the mountains, the fresh air, the view, the fact that everything was supplied....even activities for young children.
The drive way was very steep, Some lighter duty vehicles could have difficulty maneuvering the steepness.
The mattresses in the two bedrooms downstairs were a little hard for our liking. The extra blankets took care of that issue.
Except for the mattress issue.....this was a wonderful place to relax, drive a short distance to Estes Park for shopping, fun family activities. It was a very spacious and very clean area for a large family gathering.
We had a great stay my entire family enjoyed the cabin eight of us fit in the location very comfortably. To throw back into 1975 decor was a plus
The good:
Very large and scenic cabin. The 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms are perfect for a large group or family. It has two separate living/lounge areas, in two levels, which was perfect for separation of groups while still staying in the same cabin. It has piano and a fireplace (big plus) and a large deck with great view of the sunset and a covered parking spot underneath, which came in handy during inclement weather. Large dining table and bar to eat and hangout. Lots of lights inside and out (which isn’t always available in many cabins). It’s a great value but the rules (or laws) only allowed 8 person occupancy. The management was also very responsive.
The so-so:
The place was not very well organized. There are many pots, pans, and utensils that you could cook all your meals for a large group. There are also lots of spices and seasoning for us to use. The kitchen was not organized and took quit a while to find anything. We end up finding many pots and container toward the end of our stay... basically open every drawer and cabinet and make a mental inventory of the kitchen gears when you first get there.
There are many games in a shelf in the live area. Again, great to have many games to play while staying here. There were no organization and the games has to be dug out of see what they were. A few cubbies could help with the game organization.
About half a dozen light bulbs were dead -including half of the bulbs in the master bedroom. I replaced the bulbs with the bulbs from other fixtures until I found the spare bulbs in one of the kitchen drawers on the third day.
The not-so-good:
The place was very dusty. It’s part of where the cabin is located and the weather. It could help if all the furniture surfaces were dusted as part of the cleaning.
The couches were old and cushions were worn and sipper broken. It might help to replace the couchs with some updated ones that doesn’t collect dust.
Screen doors. The note are to latch the sagging screen doors as the wind catches it. It would work better with hydraulic springs that keep the screen door close.
The oven. Nice convection oven that didn’t work. It sounded bad. The oven in regular mode does work.
Overall, a good experience and the place does need some improvements. Give. The demand in Estes Park in the summer in addition to the C-19 demand on places near national parks, I would say this place is a fair deal.
Great Mountain Cabin feel! Wonderful view and comfy beds. House really cools down at night which is amazing. Vehicle access was a little tight with our heavy work trucks, but if you’re comfortable with big vehicles you can manage! Great responsive hosts! Well stocked kitchen!
Excellent views. Great cabin. Well stocked kitchen cookware and dishes. Not enough towels for a four bedroom eight person rental for a week. Dishwasher wasn’t working. Plenty of firewood even though we were told there would not be any there. The driveway is not maintained properly so a four wheel drive vehicle would be appropriate.
No dishwasher gel
Rusted knives
Kitchen vessels were not good
Pans missing lids
No toilet paper
No shower gel
Great location (close to RMNP, YMCA and pretty close to town, but away from hustle and bustle). The views from the house are out of this world, gorgeous! Great 2nd floor deck for relaxing and viewing the mountains. We had visits from deer and hummingbirds almost daily. Be aware that there is no cell service at the house (at least not on Verizon or Sprint) and the wifi is very unreliable, so plan on getting info or communication in other ways. There is a land line that appears to work. Definitely a spacious house, with room and privacy for a lot of people (four bedrooms, each with double/queen bed, and three full baths). There's also a vintage piano, foosball table and some board games and puzzles, as well as local guide books. It's an older house that hasn't had much updating, but everything is functional and does the trick. Very clean, which we appreciated. Bring your own basics such as hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels, but the linens and towels were well supplied and clean. The house is on an uphill, unpaved gravel road, FYI, but our standard rental cars didn't have a problem getting there in the summer. Overall a nice home base in a good location, with plenty of space and great views for our family gathering. You do have to check in and pick up/drop off keys on the other side of town (near the Safeway, where you're probably stopping anyway) from a management office, where everyone was friendly and helpful, provided maps and printed welcome instructions.
It had good views and was convenient to the park
Perfect location near RMNP. Plenty of room for families to enjoy. Views are stunning. Made our trip great.
